Brookfield Zoo

WAY FINDING design – illustration – iconography – Mural

Project Brief

An experimental project to design an updated wayfinding system for Brookfield Zoo. This project includes a simplified map of the animal exhibits, a mural, directional signs, and a digital touchpoint directory.

Design Objective

My goal was to create a simplified map system that was easy to understand and accessible for even the younger attendees who may not know how to read. I used a bold color palette with high contrast. I illustrated the animal silhouettes to be legible in a smaller format like the map brochure, along as well as in a larger format like on the directional signs and the touch point. I added a grid system to the touchpoint kiosk to identify where the specific restraints and other locations are located.
